Tom has a 20 year career as an award-winning saxophonist and composer. He has performed with leading orchestras (RLPO, Manchester camerata, Paraorchestra), pop artists (Simple Minds, Doves, Diane Shaw, Heaven 17) and jazz musicians (Bob Mintzer, PeeWee Ellis, Mike Walker). Having released 4 studio albums, he regularly performs his music in some of the UK’s leading venues and around the world, including tours in Asia, Australia and throughout the UK/Europe, with composition commissions from many leading performers including recent work with the BBC Concert Orchestra. He has gained awards from Taichung International Saxophone competition, Johnny Raducanu International Jazz Prize, Royal Philharmonic society and the RNCM Gold Medal festival. Tom is Saxophone tutor at The University of Liverpool and Liverpool Hope University, where he teaches Undergraduates and Postgraduates in Classical and Jazz saxophone. He has also given public masterclasses at Salford University, Bath Spa University, Leeds Conservatoire, RNCM and Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts. He has many years of experience teaching learners of all ages from beginner stages to professional levels and has extensive experience preparing students for success in conservertoire auditions. Tom believes in teaching students to practise creatively and find fun, engaging methods with which to build good foundations of technique and theoretical knowledge from the earliest stages of their journey.
