One to one lessons
Manchester Saxophone Academy connects students with highly qualified private saxophone tutors across the region.
All approved tutors:
- Hold a degree in saxophone from a conservatoire
- Are DBS checked for safety and reliability
- Offer tuition across a variety of styles, including classical, jazz, and contemporary/pop music
With tutors located throughout Manchester and surrounding areas, students can find lessons close to home that suit their learning preferences. Each tutor provides a profile with a short biography, location, lesson cost and teaching focus, helping students choose the teacher who is the right fit for their goals.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or an advanced player, our one-to-one lessons provide tailored instruction to
develop technique, musicianship, and confidence.
Chamber Music Play Days
Manchester Saxophone Academy provides opportunities for saxophonists to play together, collaborate, and develop ensemble skills.
Our sessions focus on small-group playing, giving participants:
- Guided ensemble experiences with structured coaching and professional support
- Personalised feedback on technique, interpretation, and musical communication
- Ability-based groups so participants play with others of a similar skill level
- Opportunities to develop teamwork and listening skills in a supportive, interactive environment
These sessions are designed for musicians of all levels, giving everyone the chance to improve while enjoying the experience of making music together.
Conservatoire Pathway for Young Saxophonists
Our Conservatoire Pathway is designed for young saxophonists (ages 14-17) aiming for professional study.
This programme complements existing lessons, providing:
- Monthly individual tuition with specialist guidance
- Technical development and audition preparation to help students reach their full potential
- Performance opportunities to build confidence and stage presence
- One to one support with application forms and personal statement writing

- Optional intensive 2-day workshops throughout the year, featuring masterclasses with conservatoire tutors

This pathway aims to inspire, motivate, and equip students with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to succeed in higher music education and beyond.
Specialist Training for Woodwind Tutors
We offer professional development for tutors whose primary instrument is not saxophone.
These sessions focus on:
- Advanced saxophone technique and teaching methods
- Repertoire selection guidance
- Guidance on equipment (saxophones, mouthpieces and reeds)
- Strategies for different student levels
This training supports teachers in broadening their expertise, ensuring high-quality saxophone tuition across schools and private lessons.
