Ben is graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, where he studied with Rob Buckland, Andy Scott, Iain Dixon, and Mike Hall. He graduated with a First Class Honours degree, alongside twice receiving the Principal’s Award for Improvisation (2021 and 2022). Since graduating, Ben has built a varied career as both a performer and an educator. Performance highlights include headlining the 37 Degrés à l’Ombre Festival in France, appearing with Shed Seven at Manchester’s Albert Hall, and collaborating with numerous musicians at local venues such as Matt and Phred’s and Band on the Wall.

Alongside performing, Ben is a dedicated and passionate teacher. He teaches peripatetically in three schools as well as independently, working with students of all ages and abilities - from complete beginners through to ABRSM Grade 8. He aims to make lessons engaging, supportive, and fun. Ben also is the Musical Director for two amateur big bands, guiding them through regular rehearsals and performances throughout the year.
